On July 10th, CABAA, in partnership with the Boeing Corporation and Chicago STEM Pathways Cooperative hosted the inaugural Gary STEM Signing Day to celebrate high school seniors who are committing to continue their education at technical schools, colleges and universities. These students will be applying their talents in pursuit of careers in STEM fields and putting themselves on the fast track for success. STEM Signing Days, modeled after signing days for athletes, recognize students who commit to pursuing STEM degrees after high school.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, this year's event was hosted as a virtual event, with students signing STEM letters of intent virtually during a ceremony attended by family members and elected officials - including Gary Mayor Jerome Prince. Thirteen students from Gary were selected to take part in the event.
